And the 3rd element that appealed and led me to purchase the publication was hearing to Carol Leifer, in person, up near and personal. My partner Carol and attended a mixture vegan festival and PETA rally-and she was the featured speaker. We believed her communicate on these subjects was sensible, admirable and funny. So we shelled out twenty bucks, obtained an autographed duplicate “When You Lie About Your Age” and experienced our image used with this writer for this type of hits as “Saturday evening Live,” “Seinfeld,” “The Larry Sanders Show” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
Unfortunately, the publication was a disappointment. I found it overly concentrated on Ms. Leifer’s lesbianism, Judaism, weight, wrinkles, feminine cleanliness troubles and dull family people relationships. I may be quoting a collection the writer herself arrived up with in saying this, but allow me make an essential place preceding to continuing: “Not that there’s something incorrect with (any of) that! Anyway, that’s just me. I can’t say I wasn’t warned. In his publication jacket blurb, costs Maher especially noted that this publication is “made for just about any woman.” So, I accept responsibility-what was I thinking?
The publication consists of 27 chapters, essentially biographical vignettes, the majority of which concentrate on Ms. Leifer’s center many years which, I would guess, even she would admit are just about over. Hahahaha.
This publication would are already much a whole whole lot more gratifying once the writer experienced been not just a well-known comedian and once the blurbs do not assure a laugh a minute, if not just a whole whole lot more often. I’ve look at publications by non-comedians using a whole whole lot more hilarity than “When You Lie About Your Age.” in comparison with non-stand up writers like Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., Truman Capote or F. Scott Fitzgerald, examining “When You Lie” is much less amusing than Edgar Allen Poe’s “Murder while in the Rue Morgue.” At just one point, I almost began pulling for that terrorists to win.
